!! Late Breaking USAV Juniors News !! The JSVBA, in affiliation with the
Garden Empire Volleyball Association, presents the The clinic and tourney is designed for both boys and girls. Eric Pavels,
former Pro Beach Player and former Rutgers University Coach is scheduled as
one of the Instructors.
Registration is Open to Juniors 18 and under, 16
and under, 14 and under, that wish to learn high level skills in Beach
Volleyball and qualify to attend the 2006 National Beach High
Performance Clinic. Groups may need to be combined or modified based on
the number of participants.
This clinic is open to all junior age players and 1 day USAV memberships will be available on-site for Non-USAV members for $5 fee.
Lunch for the participants will be provided. Each participant will
receive a souvenir JSVBA T-Shirt.
And at our JSVBA Family Fun and Beach Blast Volleyball Events
bottled water, soft drinks, sport and energy drinks will be
available during the event on a complimentary basis for the
participants, while supplies last.
Registration fee is $30 per player. USAV membership is required. A $5 one day USAV Membership will be available on-site for non-USAV participants. Results from the Miller Lite Greetings from Asbury Park Pro Beach Volleyball Tournament 5th Ave. Beach, Asbury Park, NJ
Saturday, July 2nd
The $1,000.00 Women’s Professional Division of the Miller Lite Greetings from Asbury Park Pro Beach Volleyball Tournament was won by Susie Turner, Honolulu, HI and Meri-de Boyer, San Diego, CA by the scores of 21-13 and 21-18 over April Mellott, York, PA and Kinsey Finn, Levittown, PA.
Turner/Boyer won $500.00 and Mellott/Finn received $300.00 at the Miller Lite Greetings from Asbury Park Pro Beach Volleyball Tournament conducted by the Jersey Shore Volleyball Association, JSVBA.
Turner and Boyer beat the team of Dee Schmitz, Lake Hopatcong, and Lisa Ekmekjian, Montvale, NJ 21-17, 21-19 in one semi-final, while Finn and Mellott edged Linda Capizzi, Bradley Beach, NJ and Anne Kraft, Delray Beach, FL 21-14, 21-19 in the other semi-final. The third place teams of Ekmekjian/Schmitz and Capizzi/Kraft each won $100.00.
In the Men’s $5,000.00 Pro Division the teams of Brian Soldano, Freehold, NJ and Jim Walls, Cape May, NJ, Michael Mielcarz, Levittown, PA, and Pawel Kadlubowski, Plainsboro, NJ moved on to the Semi-Finals from the Winners bracket while Jon Rose, Hoboken, NJ and Wes Moore, West Long Branch, NJ and Ihor Akinshyn, Mahwah, NJ and Elvis Rodriguez, New York, NY battled their way to the Semi-Finals through the Contenders bracket.

Akinshyn/Rodriguez met Mielcarz/Kadlubowski in a rematch of their winners bracket match won by Mielcarz and Kadlubowski 21-18, 21-16. The rematch was again won in a hard fought three game match by the team of Mielcarz and Kadlubowski 21-16, 12-21, 15-13.
Then at 11:30 AM Soldano and Walls played Rose and Moore in another winners bracket rematch. The original winners bracket match was won by Soldano/Walls 21-8, 21-19. The semi-final match resulted with Soldano/Walls winning by the scores of 21-11, 21-19. Rose and Moore had the lead in the second game 19-16 but couldn't get the job done.
At 2 PM on the 5th Ave. beach Soldano/Walls and Mielcarz/Kadlubowski battled to determine the eventual champion of the Miller Lite Greetings from Asbury Park Pro Beach Volleyball Tournament. Soldano/Walls prevailed to take home the $2,500.00 first place check by the scores of 21-12, 21-13. Mielcarz/Kadlubowski left $1,500.00 richer while Rose/Moore and Akinshyn/Rodriguez both cashed checks of $500.00.
An estimated 10,000 spectators saw the action from the Asbury Park boardwalk over the weekend.
Teams traveled to the Miller Lite Greetings From Asbury Park Pro Beach Volleyball Tournament from as far away as Honolulu, HI, USA, San Diego, California, USA and Toronto, Ontario, CANADA to participate in this professional event.
